The Humane Society of Greater KC spays and neuters
thousands of pets each year. In 2009 we spayed or
neutered nearly 6,000 pets in our low-cost
clinic and
we're set to do even more in 2010. It's part of our organization's mission
and key to ending the problem of pet overpopulation. More than 20,000
pets are euthanized in KC area shelters and animal control facilities
each year.
Your
gift of $45 will spay a large dog and a gift of $30 will neuter
a cat.
The HSGKC has created S.P.O.T.S. (Stop
Pet Overpopulation Through Surgery), a special fund that assists
low-income people with spay/neuter fees.
Studies have shown that the very
lowest income areas contribute to 80% of the pet overpopulation problem.
Offering surgery fees of $20 or less has been very successful in getting
people of low income to respond, thus greatly reducing euthanasia rates.
People who utilize our S.P.O.T.S. program will pay
$5-$20 per pet for a spay or neuter surgery. The rest of the surgery
costs will be paid from donations made to the S.P.O.T.S. program. Your
gift of $45 will spay a large dog and a gift of $30 will neuter a cat.
If you would like to sponsor a spay or neuter surgery
through the S.P.O.T.S. program and help reduce euthanasia in the KC metro
area, please make a tax-deductible donation today.
