About The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City
The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is the longest standing animal shelter in Kansas City. We are also the only animal welfare organization that has an animal shelter and a public facing affordable care clinic. We see, on average, 10,000 patients annually through our full service veterinary clinic and approximately 1,500 animals come through our shelter doors each year seeking refuge and care.
Our adoption center is a walk-through facility aimed at providing superior care to all of the animals that come into our shelter. Each animal that comes into our program receives all medical care, including spay/neuter surgery, life saving vaccines, microchipping, flea/tick/heartworm prevention and more. We also strive to reduce any barriers to ensure that anyone and everyone is welcome to come into our facility to look for a new animal to add to their family.
Our affordable care clinic offers a wide range of services including specialty surgeries, sick and well visits, dentals, and more. Our dedicated team of veterinarians and staff work tirelessly to ensure that every animal receives the highest level of care possible. Whether it’s routine vaccinations or complex surgical procedures, we strive to exceed expectations and provide affordable care without compromising on quality. We also offer urgent care hours for those unexpected emergencies.
Along with our animal shelter and our affordable care clinic, we also offer a Free Community Food Pet Pantry. This pantry provides thousands of pounds of food to the animals in our community at no cost to their owners. Our goal is to provide our community with resources that they would otherwise not have access to.
At The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, our mission is to save and improve the lives of dogs and cats throughout the Greater Kansas City community by providing preventative veterinary care and spay/neuter services, education and adoptions. Our doors first opened in 1912. Since then, we have helped more than 500,000 animals and people within the Kansas City area.
About Paws & Purrls Gala
Our Paws & Purrls Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is an opportunity for us to share a meal with our community members that value the work we do in our community and to raise vital funds for our organization. This year will be a unique showcase of the invaluable work we do each and every day. Our VIP sponsors will have the opportunity to have “first view” of the venue, our silent auction, a private VIP cocktail hour and more.
At HSGKC, we see over 10,000 animals annually through our clinic. Animals that need life saving vaccines, surgeries, emergency services, and more. We have remained a constant in our community, being here since 1912. As we continue to be a lifeline to the pets and people within our community, we want to do more. Creating community outreach programs to better serve the people and pets that do not have the means to get to our facility, building a mobile veterinary clinic to be able to meet pet owners that are unable to bring their pets to us, developing social work infrastructures to better support the importance of the human-animal bond. These are just some of the plans for The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City as we shift into becoming the model organization in the Midwest. We aim to not only be a facility that provides affordable veterinary care, pet adoptions, and reunification but to become a Community Resource Center.
