Adoption Information

Our goal is to help you to find your perfect match, and to give our shelter pets the best possible chance of finding a safe and loving home!

Step 1: Learn About Our Shelter Animals

Check out the photos and bios of the animals who are ready for adoption.

Step 2: Come See Us

Stop by our shelter Tuesday – Saturday to meet adoptable pets! One of our shelter team members will assist you in the selection of the perfect pet. We will learn a little bit more about what sort of companion you’re looking for, review the life and medical history of the pet you are interested in adopting, allow you to spend time with the pet, and together we will make sure it’s the best match possible.

Step 3: Finalizing the Adoption

  1. You will be able to take the pet home immediately as long as he/she is medically ready to go home (completed all age appropriate vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery) and you are prepared to leave with your new friend.
  2. We recommend that all members of the household meet the pet chosen for adoption to ensure that the new pet is compatible with everyone.
  3. For some pets, we may recommend an introduction with your resident animal to ensure that they will get along. Arrangements for a dog meet-and-greet will be made during the matchmaking process.
  4. All dog and puppies must leave the shelter with an appropriate leash and collar (affordable leashes and collars can be purchased from HSGKC). All cats and kittens must leave in an appropriate carrier. These can also be purchased from HSGKC.
